Storyteller Workshops

Inspire young creators with WILD Storyteller Workshops

60-90 min Hands-on sessions teaching YouTube tips, filming, and storytelling while exploring places, cultures and nature from around the world

In these interactive workshops, students don’t just learn about stories — they create them. We’ll explore the building blocks of powerful storytelling, from sparking ideas and structuring narratives to capturing moments on camera. Along the way, students gain practical insights into starting a YouTube channel, filming techniques, and how to engage an audience. By the end of the session, every class will have produced their own 1-minute video story (or storyboarded it), giving students the chance to see themselves as creators and communicators.

Ideal for after-school clubs, eco-clubs, or enrichment sessions, these workshops turn curiosity into creativity and empower students to share their own WILD perspectives.

1. Storytelling Skills

Students discover how to turn ideas into engaging narratives. We’ll explore structure, character, and emotion — showing how stories can inspire, connect people across cultures, and keep an audience hooked.

2. YouTube Literacy

A behind-the-scenes look at how Uncle WILD creates his videos. Pupils learn the basics of running a channel, from developing ideas and planning content to understanding how audiences engage online — turning viewers into confident young creators.

3. Video Production

Hands-on practice with filming and editing. Students try out camera techniques, experiment with framing shots, and collaborate to produce a 1-minute video by the end of the workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our workshops are designed to be flexible. They work well with secondary students (KS3–KS4), with content and activities adapted to suit different levels.

  • A typical session runs for 60–90 minutes, but we can adjust to fit your school’s timetable — from shorter enrichment blocks to half-day deep dives.

  • I bring all the storytelling prompts and filming gear to review. If schools have access to smart phones, iPads or laptops, pupils can use them to film and edit. Pupils can also bring their own digital cameras if they have them. I can send materials to the school prior for printing.

  • By the end of the workshop, each group will create a 1-minute video story, applying what they’ve learned about storytelling, YouTube insights, and video production. This can be shared back with the school community.

  • Absolutely! Many schools choose to pair a large-group Adventure Assembly with a smaller, hands-on Storyteller Workshop. The assembly sets the stage with big-picture ideas and inspiring stories, while the workshop lets a select group of students dive deeper into storytelling and video creation. I offer combined packages at a reduced rate to make it easier for schools to enjoy both experiences in one visit. Suggested Donation: £270 :)

  • Workshops are more hands-on and in-depth than assemblies, and we suggest contributions that support the preparation and resources involved. We’ll send you our Suggested Giving Guide with suggested amounts when you enquire, and we’re happy to adapt where needed so every school can take part.
